Boston area athletes from all sports gathered Monday night in support of Rob Ninkovich, LB, Patriots, charity ping-pong event, “Ninko’s Ping Pong Challenge”. Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron, Dustin Pedroia, Chandler Jones, Stephen Gostowski, Leon Powe, Tukka Rask and a host of other Boston athletes showed up to support the event.
“We all support each other,” said Ninkovich. “That’s why I’m here tonight, why teammates are here tonight, to support me and the things that I’m doing tonight to support the community. It goes both ways. It’s family. That’s what it is.”
The event was created to give back to the city and benefit the Celebrities For Charity Foundation (CFC). CFC supports thousands of local organizations by donating memorabilia and exciting experiences at no charge. They’ve donated to more than 2,000 local organizations since 1997 and have donated over $15 million to local and national celebrity based foundations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Boston Children’s Hospital, and continued ALS research and funding.
As for the ping pong event, Ninkovich said Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola are two of the better players on the team, saying Amendola is “really good.”
“I figured ping pong is a sport we all play, and yes it is a sport, so I figured we’d put that on and try and raise some money,” Ninkovich said.Read More
